Cinelux Project SIXTEEN Prototype Hybrid Film Camera System
The SIXTEEN is a new motion picture camera platform prototype designed to bridge analog filmmaking with modern production workflows. We are not ready to start shooting with it yet but please join us for the journey. We hope to be ready to offer the SIXTEEN for sale in 2027. For less than a used 416 package.
Combining simultaneous film and digital capture within a single synchronized system, the SIXTEEN allows cinematographers to maintain the emotional depth and tactile qualities of film while integrating seamlessly into contemporary on-set and post-production pipelines.
In one shutter revolution, two exposures occur:
- one captured directly onto motion picture film
- one captured simultaneously through an integrated digital cinema sensor
This hybrid workflow provides the creative authenticity of film alongside the immediacy, monitoring flexibility, and production efficiency demanded by modern filmmaking environments.
Developed with cinematographers, colorists, and production workflows in mind, the SIXTEEN introduces true-to-live film emulation monitoring — delivering a digital feed designed to closely reflect the final developed scans for more accurate exposure, lighting, and creative decisions during capture.
Built around accessibility, flexibility, and practical artistry, the SIXTEEN reimagines what a modern film camera system can be.
The analog cinema re-evolution starts here.
